emirates airline Emirates 777 300 A6 EBK (99 Germany 2006)(Grd) LGW (A6)(LR) 900540

Comments:  Emirates Airline (Dubai) was first conceived in March 1985 with the backing of Dubai's royal family, whose Dubai Royal Air Wing provided two of the airline's first aircraft, both Boeing 727-200s. The new airline was required to operate independent of government subsidies, apart from $10 million in start-up capital. Emirates also leased a Boeing 737-300 from PIA which was returned in 1987. Services commenced on October 25, 1985 on the Dubai-Karachi route. Emirates became profitable within its first nine months. Since then it has become one of the world's premier airlines and is now the largest Boeing 777 operator in the world.
